Electric Power No. 1 Minister receives Chinese guests

  • Minister for Electric Power No. 1 Col Zaw Min received Executive Vice-Chairman Mr Wang Yongxiang and party of Huaneng Lancang River Hydropower Co Ltd of the People’s Republic of China at the Ministry of Electric Power No. 1, here, on 12 November evening.
  • They discussed cooperation in implementation of Shweli-2 hydropower project.
  • A ceremony to sign the MoU on Shweli-2 hydropower project jointly implemented by Hydropower Administration Department under the Ministry of Electric Power No. 1, Huaneng Lancang River Hydropower Co Ltd of China and Asia World Co Ltd was held at the hall of the ministry.
  • Minister Col Zaw Min delivered an address. The Executive Vice- Chairman and Managing Director U Tun Myint Naing spoke words of thanks.
  • The Director-General of Hydropower Administration Department and Executive Vice-President Mr Huang Gguangming signed the MoU and exchanged notes.
  • Also present on the occasion were Minister for National Planning and Economic Development U Soe Tha, Minister for Electric Power No. 2 Maj-Gen Khin Maung Myint, Attorney- General U Aye Manug, Deputy Minister U Myo Myint, departmental heads and officials.

Yeywa Dam commences to store water

  • Minister for Electric Power No. 1 Col Zaw Min accompanied by Deputy Minister U Myo Myint and officials supervised storage of water at Yeywa RCC Dam yesterday morning.
  • After inspecting No. 1 and No. 2 water diversion tunnels, the minister formally launched the storage of water at the dam and pressed the button to close the water diversion tunnel with valves.
  • The minister viewed systematic shutting of valves at the sluice gates No. 1 and No. 2 with the use of 70-ton crane. To mark the successful completion of shutting the water diversion tunnel and storage of water, the minister presented gifts and cash assistance to the workers.

Electric Power No. 1 Minister looks into progress of Yeywa Dam project

  • Minister for Electric Power No. 1 Col Zaw Min on 9 November heard reports on completion of the diversion tunnel, the entrance and exit to the tunnel, RCC main embankment, spillway and power intake structure, installation of steel pipeline, construction of power plant, water outlet channel and sub-power station and arrangements for storage of water at Yeywa Dam presented by Director U Nay Myo Win at the construction site of Yeywa Dam Project near Ye-Yaman Village, 31 miles southeast from Mandalay.
  • Director-General U Myint Zaw gave a supplementary report.
  • The minister inspected preparations for installation of Diversion Tunnel No. 2 Gate upstream of the dam and supply of water from the diversion tunnel No. 1.
  • Afterwards, the minister looked into progress in building the spillway bridge linking left and right embankments and main embankment and other tasks.
  • Later, the minister viewed construction of the switch yard and the water outlet channel.

MoU signed for implementation of Saidin, Upper Beluchaung hydropower projects

  • A ceremony to sign the MoU between Hydropower Administration Department under the Ministry of Electric Power No. 1 and Future Power Co Ltd for Saidin Hydropower Project and the similar department and Min Anawrahta Group Co Ltd for Upper Beluchaung Hydropower Project through Build, Operate & Transfer system was held at the hall of the ministry yesterday evening.
  • Minister for Electric Power No. 1 Col Zaw Min extended greetings.
  • The director-general of HAD and Managing Director U Aung Zaw Naing of Future Power Co Ltd signed the MoU on Saidin Hydropower Project and exchanged notes. Next, the director-general and Managing Director U Khaing Oo of Min Anawrahta Group Co Ltd signed the MoU and exchanged documents.
  • Hydropower Administration Department signed the MoU on implementation of Saidin Hydropower Project with Future Power Co Ltd and that of Upper Beluchaung Hydropower Project with Min Anawrahta Group Co Ltd.
  • Also present on the occasion were Attorney-General U Aye Maung, Minister for Finance and Revenue Maj-Gen Hla Tun, deputy ministers, departmental heads and officials.

Minister inspects Shwegyin dam project

  • Minister for Electric Power No 1 Col Zaw Min went on an inspection tour of Shwegyin dam project near Kyauknaga village, 6 miles of Northeast of Shewgyin, Bago Division, being built by No 4 Construction Group yesterday morning. On arrival at the dam project, the minister viewed progress in building the dam from the observation deck.
  • Next, the project director presented reports to the minister on progress in building the dam, future tasks and stockpile of materials while the deputy director-general gave a supplementary report.
  • After hearing the reports, the minister attended to the needs and then gave instructions on timely completion of the construction tasks.Next, the minister inspected Ogee & Bidge work, Chute Protion work and Stilling Basin work and earth work for the dam with the use of heavy machinery, installation of gate doors of water intake structure, water diverted from the river and progress in filling the dam with earth and gravel.
